Hello.

I am a mental health therapist in Madison, WI. I use mindfulness and somatic approaches thinking outside the box from traditional psychotherapy. I specialize in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, and perinatal mental health.

Treatment Approaches

My therapeutic approaches include a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, systemic, and somatic mindfulness techniques.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) aids individuals in examining their inner thought patterns and self talk. Self talk is often the result of early childhood messages, societal expectations, or current relationships. These thought patterns have an impact on our emotions and behavior. Therapy can be helpful in recognizing and changing thought patterns to create a happier and more fulfilled life.

Somatic mindfulness therapy covers a broad range of reflection, intentional awareness, movement, and breath work. As a certified yoga instructor, I integrate gentle movements and meditation as a way to process through previous experiences and aid clients in the development of healthier coping strategies.

Systemic approaches offer a holistic lens in the therapy room assessing many parts of a persons life and creating balance within these parts. Previous family relationships, identities, spirituality, current relationships, and culture are all parts of a person’s connectedness with their world.

  • Frequency of sessions greatly depend on your specific goals. A typical frequency is once every 1-2 weeks however we will discuss a plan that works that best for your needs.

  • It's tricky to tell isn't it! Finding the right fit in therapy is extremely important. My approaches have been built from my education, books, personal experiences, and value I've found working with clients for 10 years. However, the only way to really know is to start. The first few sessions will not only be a chance for me to get to know you, but you to know me. And then you can make an informed decision whether you feel I will be able to help you on your healing journey.

  • Clinically speaking, therapy is recommended when symptoms start to interfere with daily functioning.

However...it's more complicated than that. Humans are extremely resilient and tend to "power through" despite life challenges. So if you think you would benefit from an unbiased space to process through previous or current challenges or are wanting support through your personal goals...you are in the right place.
